Normal day use fees are charged to ALL vehicles entering the park, including caterers and rental companies; inform caterers/rental company of this policy.
Special events may take place during daylight hours only. The special event area is Picnic Lot #1 at the Day Use (off Highway 9) side of the park. The setting is among large sycamore, box elder and bay trees. There are long tables and large barbecues to prepare and serve food to large groups. There are electrical outlets, restrooms and a volleyball court (bring your own net and ball).
The picnic area is a short walk from the redwood grove, gift shop and visiters center. The redwood grove is not available for weddings or other group events. The grove is heavily visited and our primary purpose is to allow people to see the trees unimpeded.
The maximum number attending the event is limited to 300 people; larger groups may be considered on a case by case basis.
Small radios or non-amplified live music is permissible as long as the sound does not carry beyond the reserved area. Amplified music may be considered on a case by case by case basis.
The parking area in Lot 1 will be posted as reserved for your special event. Double parking is not allowed. Yellow loading/unloading zones, red curbs and disabled parking spaces are strictly enforced.
Rice, birdseed, balloons, confetti, etc. are not allowed to be thrown in the park. These items affect the plants and wildlife in the park.
The reserved area must be left in clean condition (all garbage and food products deposited into trashcans or if cans fill up, bagged in plastic bags and left next to the trashcans). All decorations must be removed before vacating the area. Recycling is encouraged.
